Rebecca’s Expertise
I have been writing and teaching writing in one form or another for 20 years.
An expert in composition and rhetoric, pedagogy, and literary and cultural studies, I began my career in higher education, earning my Ph.D. in English with a successful dissertation and peer-reviewed journal publications. I have created undergraduate and graduate-level writing curricula and helped to develop a university-wide Writing Across the Curriculum program.
My professional experience outside of the academy includes developmental editing and ghostwriting as well as instructional systems and curriculum design. I have taught and coached writing for graduate students and scholars in multiple disciplines, including STEM, and I have designed curriculum and coached writing for professionals and executives in government service and private industry.
I am a lifelong learner, a dedicated educator, and a professional with real experience applying my skills to successful projects. Let me help you build the skills for long term success.

Rebecca’s Passion
A military spouse of 20 years, I am in a unique position to bridge the gap between the academy and military culture and between the military and civilian professional worlds. I have guided military leaders through writing for graduate-level broadening assignments, Command and General Staff College, and Senior Service College. I have coached military leaders as they translate their skills into professional narratives for transitioning to the civilian workforce.
I am intimately familiar with the exceptional challenges military families face. The daughter of a Marine Corps veteran and Purple Heart recipient, I grew up in veteran communities with an acute awareness of and deep respect for the weight our veterans and their families carry. I am passionate about helping service members, veterans, and family members write their stories, whether for publication, presentation, or catharsis.
Whether you’re looking for support as you continue your military education or you need a sounding board for your white papers, policy statements, and speeches, I understand the structure of the military, the nuances of military culture, and the special challenges service members, families, and veterans face on a daily basis. Whatever your writing project, I am here to support you.
