Rebecca Biggio, PhD

Whisper Lake Writing Creator and CEO

A lifelong teacher and mentor who began her career in higher education, Dr. Biggio turned to home education amid the frequent relocations demanded by her family’s military service. She felt her young children would be better served by a consistent education at home than a revolving door of different schools on military bases around the world. She also felt strongly that the unique local cultures and geographies of their many duty stations made for valuable learning experiences and opportunities not to be missed. Her classroom didn’t have walls. And far from isolated, her students were curious naturalists, historians, artists, musicians, athletes, and productive members of their communities. Dr. Biggio’s passion for education led her to begin building her own curricula for her children, just as she had for her college and university students. After years of exploring available curricula in all areas of instruction, Dr. Biggio recognized a need for a more comprehensive, down-to-earth, practical writing curriculum for college- and career-bound high school students, graduate school applicants, and professionals. Due to her combined experiences in college and university instruction, home education, professional writing and editing, and mentoring, Dr. Biggio occupies a unique position where her skills and passion intersect with a need she is determined to meet.
